Miller Family Snapshot 2006-02-04
Y'know, I was going to write a quick update to gripe and complain and moan and whine. Really, I was.
As you know, Owen had croupe and a double ear infection two weeks ago. Unfortunately his status hasn't changed. He's couging up lungs left and right (how many does he have, anyway?), and he's got a river flowing out of his nose like I've never seen before. (Hmm, if you're eating, maybe you should come back to the email later.) =)
Well, sister must have been jealous. She picked up croupe this week and even was rewarded with an overnight stay in the hospital for observation. Add to this mix the test I have on Monday that I just started studying for (family comes first!), and it makes for quite the fascinating sob story.
But as I was about to break out the pity party favors, before I had a chance to finish writing the invitations, we received an email from someone dear to us who recently experienced the death of her husband after a long fight with cancer. The email reminded me personally that despite our current parenting adventures, there are worse things than the stress of everyday life. I curse the fact that even though we are only 2 1/2 yrs out from Micah's death, we are now apparently far enough where everyday life can rob us of our perspective.
Janyce's email reminded me of that. And of the fact that, like her, there are many others out in the world right now who are experiencing far worse things than runny noses and croupy kids.
I have of course attached a couple pics of the wee ones. But more than that, following this email is an article masterfully written by Janyce's son. It is titled, "Seahawks Bond Father, Son in Life and Death". Powerful. Please take a moment to read it, as I'm sure it will touch many others as it touched us.
May the good Lord be with you in the coming days. We love you all!
